Do I need my own truck and tools?
Yes. You stay independent — that means you bring the truck, the tools, and the licenses. Hot Swap brings the jobs, the equipment for the install, and the paperwork.
Do I have to give up my other clients?
No. Hot Swap work fits around your existing schedule. Most of our installers run their own clients alongside Hot Swap installs and treat us as a steady backstop when their own pipeline slows down.
What does it pay?
Per-install piece rate, paid on completion. The exact rate varies by system type and complexity (a tankless install pays differently than a heat pump or a multifamily boiler retrofit). Specific numbers are walked through during the certification onboarding call.
How fast can I start receiving jobs?
Typically two to three weeks from submitting the application to your first paid install. The bottleneck is the certification process itself, which is mostly online plus one supervised install.
What if I'm only available part-time?
That works. You set your availability in our installer portal and only get jobs offered when you're free. Some of our most reliable partners do Hot Swap on weekends or evenings around their primary work.
What does the certification cover?
Per-product training on the specific equipment we install (Noritz, Rheem, AO Smith, Rinnai, etc.), Hot Swap's install standards and quality bar, customer-handoff protocol, and rebate documentation requirements. Most modules take 2-4 hours total.
Are there minimums I have to hit?
No required minimums. Take the work that fits your schedule. We do prioritize installers who consistently accept jobs, complete them cleanly, and earn high customer ratings — those installers get first pick on the highest-paying installs.
